Beartooth Highway 2017
Once upon a time, we only had black and white television and there were only three channels, ABC, NBC and CBS. One of my favorite programs was On the Road with Charles Kuralt. He was a great storyteller. He traveled across the country and told America’s stories. He brought his audience to so many interesting people and wonderful places. Charles Kuralt referred to the Beartooth Highway as the most beautiful drive in America. That’s saying something. The Beartooth Range is in southern Montana and northern Wyoming. The highway is about 70 miles and connects the town of Red Lodge, Montana to the northeastern entrance to Yellowstone National Park. The highway climbs to about 11,000 feet at the Beartooth Pass in Wyoming. Pauline and I left Billings early Monday morning so we could take our time driving this highway through the Beartooth Range to Yellowstone. Charles Kuralt definitely had it right. Spectacular.
