There is a lot of history and prehistory between Havre and Great Falls on state route 87.  It is a beautiful drive with landscapes so characteristic of northcentral Montana – mountains, wheat fields, grazing lands, the Missouri River and the Missouri Breaks.  The Lewis and Clark expedition went up the Missouri through Great Falls and had to portage around the falls.
