Ohio Woodlands
When my sister was once looking at my work, she expressed amazement at my being able to find beautiful places to shoot where I live, in Columbus, Ohio. I understood what she was saying. We don’t have oceans, mountains or any spectacular geologic features that has anyone clamoring to set aside land for a national park. It is Ohio Woodlands. I love living in a place that experiences four distinct and equally divided seasons. I lived in Montana for two years. Spring and fall are beautiful but they each last for about ten minutes. I missed the seasons. The woodlands can be a challenge to shoot. It requires you to look harder. It requires greater creativity to develop a vision for your work. I enjoy the challenge. We have a wonderful metropark system in central Ohio. I am blessed to live just a short drive from some great places to hike and take photographs – throughout each of the seasons.
